Hard to find a more glorious way to celebrate snow and winter - than to watch the progress of the dozens of artists who are making snow sculpture this week in Breckenridge.

Locals who volunteer for the International Snow Sculpture Championships know what those who are here all week also know, that seeing the process from start to finish has a snowball effect.  By today, Friday, like the Fridays of each year's event past, the sculptures roll in all directions and become dramatically different from one another.  Visitors to the site, tonight, will have the opportunity to watch as the teams make the final decisions - those details that are best made in the cold of the night, for on Friday night, everyone can work as long as they like.

International Snow Sculpture Championship

Perhaps you are an expert snowman builder...imagine carving an image out of snow, what would it be?   The Budweiser International Snow Sculpture Championship (ISSC) returns to Breckenridge, January 18th – February 7th, 2016.  The 20 ton (yes, you read that correctly) blocks of snow will start to take shape on January 18th in the Tiger Dredge lot, behind the Riverwalk Center.  Teams will be coming from all over the world and will spend up to 65 hours shaping and sculpting the snow, creating gravity defying masterpieces.   Watching them evolve is an experience like no other. The Town of Breckenridge is enjoying the peace and quiet after a busy summer, but the thought of ski season is just around the corner!
