These are every day ski town incidents. We are used to quirks.

But the line at Crepes a la Cart is one for the books. It often snakes down the block, with wait times up to an hour, in the cold, in the dark. Other food options are available. Is it the welcoming fire pit on the deck? The saliva-inducing smell of the batter hitting the hot buttered grill? The occasionally surly employees? The…

The best thing about the International Snow Sculptures? It’s difficult to pick just one thing. With 28 years of snow sculpting heritage here in Breckenridge, we can truly say it never gets old. The sculptures inspire a childlike wonder — they often seem to defy the laws of physics. The dedication of everyone focused on making the event happen, from the teams of volunteers to the 16 international teams, is inspiring. The art ranges from the abstract to the silly and the sculptures are on display for 24 hours a day from the start of sculpting through the end of the voting period. The sculptures look different under sunlight and electric lights, and are an easy post-dinner stroll. There are so many good reasons to visit.

The one drawback? In this writer’s…

For the past 28 winters, the some of the finest snow sculptors in the world have gathered in Breckenridge, Colorado for the International Snow Sculpture Championship. They come to face the daunting task of transforming, in 65 hours of intensive carving, a twelve-foot high, 50,000-pound cube of packed snow into an elusive and delicate work of art. The Breckenridge Craft Spirits Festival, also known as Still on the Hill, takes over the Riverwalk Center in downtown Breckenridge October 20-22, 2017.

Breckenridge is the proud home of the award winning Breckenridge Distillery, which opened in 2007 on the front side of the expanding craft spirits market. In fact, just 60 craft distillers existed in 2003, and today there are over 760. The thirst for the award-winning libations lead to a recent expansion and addition of a restaurant, making the new Breckenridge Distillery a real feather in the cap of the mountain town dining experience. Be sure to check them out in the new facility on Airport Road or pop by the Tasting Room for a quick nip on Main Street’s Blue River Plaza.
