One. The Breckenridge Distillery opens a new restaurant with Top Chef alum Daniel O’Brien, described as “quirky and hugely creative.” He will focus on paring menus and cooking over a whiskey barrel wood fueled fire.

Since this is Daniel’s first time living in a ski town, we asked him what he was looking forward to as a first time local who hasn’t stepped on his skis in 10 years. “I’m opening a new restaurant- I’m in at 7:30-8am and I leave at 2am. Hopefully I’ll get to ski some, and maybe take my wife ice skating.”

While resourcing ingredients at 10,000 feet is certainly a challenge, Daniel is feeling up to the task and is researching and establishing relationships with regional suppliers. He recently found a Vail based cheese maker and looks…

The heat just turned on in my house, and out the window I can see a golden carpet of fallen aspen leaves. The light has changed from summer bright to a different fall brilliance. The gym is filling up as we transition from biking, hiking, fly fishing and golfing to getting our legs ready for ski season.  This is life in a ski town.  Are you ready?

Traditionally, A-Basin and Loveland race for bragging rights as first ski area to open. Both resorts have released ‘Mid October” as the target, and you can believe snowmaking will furiously begin as soon as the weather allows. Both Loveland and A-Basin offer a four-pack deal, bringing single tickets prices at the Basin below $45 and at Loveland down to $35. The Loveland four-pack requires advance purchase and…

Updated September 2022

Escape to the Colorado high country over the next couple of months and watch as the mountainsides transform into pieces of artwork. The vibrant color scheme of gold, orange and red against a bluebird sky creates a surreal setting and makes for a great daytrip, weekend getaway or even a fall vacation.  The most popular spot in Breckenridge (and therefore the busiest) to see the fall foliage is a drive up Boreas Pass Road to overlook the Town of Breckenridge and pass through the fall magic of Aspen Alley.

Fall used to be known as our off or shoulder season, but with each passing year it becomes a more popular time to visit the high country. There's definitely nothing "off" about the cooler temps and colorful months of September…
