International Snow Sculpture Championship
Perhaps you are an expert snowman builder...imagine carving an image out of snow, what would it be? The Budweiser International Snow Sculpture Championship (ISSC) returns to Breckenridge, January 18th – February 7th, 2016. The 20 ton (yes, you read that correctly) blocks of snow will start to take shape on January 18th in the Tiger Dredge lot, behind the Riverwalk Center. Teams will be coming from all over the world and will spend up to 65 hours shaping and sculpting the snow, creating gravity defying masterpieces. Watching them evolve is an experience like no other. These sculptors will be sculpting the snow from January 26th through January 30th. They will endure Breckenridge's harsh temperatures and elements, working through the night to finish up their masterpieces before the competition ends January 30th at 10 a.m. The awards ceremony will be on Saturday, at 2:00 p.m. The finished snow sculptures will remain standing until February 7th, 2015, if the weather remains cold and the sun is not too intense. Then they will disappear magically, just as fast as they were constructed. The International Snow Sculpture Championships will again be illuminated with a LED-lighting display, giving a magical scene to the event. We highly recommend checking out the snow sculptures in the evenings for the opportunity to see the creations in this striking display of lights.
