The snow has officially coated the stunning mountain town, and the streets are alive with high-energy tourists who have planned incredible winter trips to one of the best ski resorts in the world. Including a wildly popular Santa Race, a family-friendly, bi-annual Ice Show and the Dew Tour, a heart-pounding series of ski competitions, there is much to see and do for residents and visitors alike. So, let Breckenridge Associates guide you through the best Breckenridge events this December.

Race Of The Santas

This charitable event is held annually to benefit Adopt An Angel. Come down to our beloved Main Street and join 100s of people wearing Santa costumes in this popular, six block race. Designed for all ages, this fun run caters to all, whether you want to walk, run or dance down Main Street.

When: December 6th, 2014. 4:00pm line-up for a prompt 4:15pm race start.

Where: Breckenridge Main Street

Price: $45 race registration and a Santa costume (yours to keep!), $15 race registration (provide your own Santa costume)

Full Moon Snowshoe Party

This guided snowshoe tour happens in the evening, under the silver light of the last full moon of the year. Experienced staff takes you away from the city lights and through the forest where you can see twinkling constellations, and maybe the odd nocturnal animal. Once the tour is over, you are invited into the clubhouse to enjoy a light meal.

When: December 6th, 2014. 4:30 - 6:30pm

Where: Gold Run Nordic Center, 200 Clubhouse Drive

Price: $25 includes snowshoes. 50% for a child when accompanied by a paying adult.

Lighting Of Breckenridge

Join the all residents in celebrating the start of the holiday season with the lighting the town tree. Santa Claus himself will be there to lead the ceremony which happens every year. Santa arrives at 5pm, after the Race Of The Santas, and leads the procession of people to Blue River Plaza for the lighting. Be sure to arrive early for the free cocoa, cookies and caroling that are provided right before Santa arrives.

When: December 6th, 2014. Free cocoa and cookies at 4:30pm, Santa arrives at 5pm for the procession.

Where: Starts on Main Street, ends at Blue River Plaza

Price: This is a totally free community event!

Dew Tour Mountain Championships

This year, the Dew Tour Mountain Championships will be celebrating its ten-year anniversary. This trademark winter event has been held in the world-class Breckenridge Ski Resort for the past 7 years. Featuring pulse-racing ski and snowboard competitions, athlete meet and greets and family-friendly games, this event should not be missed!

When: December 11th-14th, 2014.

Ice Show - That Was Then, This Is Now!

A bi-annual event, "That Was Then, This Is Now" features talented skaters performing to remixed hit songs. A family-friendly event, the Winter 2014 Ice Show features both youth and adult skaters. You might love the show so much that you'll want to perform in the next one! If so, enroll in the Showtime Ice Skating program and you could be a star in the Spring Ice Show.

When: December 12th, 2014. 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Where: Stephen C. West Arena, 0189 Boreas Pass Road

Price: $5. Free for children under 3.

Sing-A-Long-A Sound Of Music

An un-missable event for classic movie lovers, the Sing-A-Long-A Sound Of Music is a screening of the time-honored film with subtitles. The subtitles allow the audience to sing-along with the movie. The event has a host who will provide totally free Magic Moments Fun Packs, and encourage participation in the form of sing, cheering and laughing.

When: December 27th, 2014. 7:00pm

Where: Riverwalk Center Amphitheater, 150 West Adams Avenue

Price: Purchase your tickets in advance for a discount! At the door: $23/Adults, $15/Youth, $35/VIP Seating. All tickets have a $2 surcharge.

New Years Eve Fireworks

Every year the town of Breckenridge lights up at 9:00pm on the last day of the year. The fireworks are visible from most spots around town and 2014 promises to be the most spectacular show yet! The Fireworks are lit at the heart of town, with the stunning Breckenridge Ski Resort as the idyllic background to the colorful light show. Watch the mountain light up from the party at the Blue River Plaza, or with your family, warm and inside.
