Colorado’s Premier MTB Stage Race

Imagine six days of intense mountain biking through Colorado's high-altitude backcountry—where each trail carves through rugged alpine terrain, climbs above tree line, and tests even the most seasoned riders. This is the Breck Epic, one of the most demanding and exhilarating stage races in North America. Set against the dramatic peaks surrounding Breckenridge, the event combines world-class singletrack, extreme elevation, and a true spirit of adventure.

What Is the Breck Epic?

The Breck Epic is a legendary 6-day mountain bike stage race that challenges riders with 220–240 miles of terrain and nearly 40,000 feet of elevation gain—all at high altitude. Designed in a cloverleaf format, each stage starts and ends within a mile of downtown Breckenridge, offering a unique blend of backcountry adventure and small-town charm. While the course demands serious endurance, technical skill, and mental grit, the event’s atmosphere is anything but stiff. Known for its “mid-90s mayhem” vibe, the Breck Epic brings together elite athletes, weekend warriors, and passionate mountain bikers for an unforgettable week of racing, camaraderie, and trail tales around the beer tent.
