Town officials strongly recommend leaving pets and furry friends at home for their own safety and comfort when attending 4th of July events in Breckenridge.
Independence Day 10K
The Independence Day 10K kicks off Breckenridge’s 4th of July celebration. The race finishes just in time for runners to watch the parade and join other festivities.
Time: 7:00 AM - 9:30 AM

“Sparkler 50 Yarder” Strider Bike Race
Your little one can get in on the race action too! The Annual Strider Race starts in front of the Gold Pan Saloon and finishes at Blue River Plaza. Strider and balance bikes are not provided. Participating children must wear a helmet. Children must be registered prior to the day of the race to participate.
Time: 7:45 AM check-in and bike decorating, 8:30 AM start for 4 to 6 year olds, 8:35 AM start for 0 to 3 year olds

Firecracker 50
Started by two Breckenridge locals, the Firecracker 50 has been a Breckenridge staple for 20+ years. Kicking off 4th of July festivities with a bang, this 50-mile mountain bike race will send 750 racers out to complete two 25 mile laps and 4,000 feet of climbs on some of the best backcountry trails in Breckenridge.

Independence Day Parade
Breckenridge loves a celebration, and the Independence Day Parade is one of everyone’s favorites. Dressed in red, white, and blue, locals and visitors line up along Main Street to cheer on the passing floats and parade participants.

Celebrate with Breck Create
Celebrate Independence Day with Breck Create during a day of live music, local art, family-friendly activities, and hands-on creative experiences throughout the Arts District Campus and Blue River Plaza. Inspired by the 2026 theme Purple Mountain Majesty, the festivities feature interactive art projects, lawn games, a chalk art contest, and community celebrations.
Time: Activities start at 10:30 AM immediately following parade

Reading of the Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence will be read at the Blue River Plaza following the parade. Following the reading, the NRO Alumni String Quartet will perform.

Concert: Sam Grisman Project
The Sam Grisman Project is an acoustic ensemble that honors the musical traditions of Jerry Garcia, David Grisman, and other American roots music pioneers through dynamic, improvisational performances. Led by bassist Sam Grisman, the group blends musicianship, storytelling, and collaboration.

National Repertory Orchestra: Fourth of July Spectacular
Dedicated to all who have served and are currently serving, the Fourth of July Spectacular is a family-friendly, interactive event that will feature beloved patriotic pieces conducted by NRO Music Director Laureate Carl Topilow.
Time: Doors open at 6:30 PM, show starts at 7:00 PM
