The Afternoon Sun and the Tenmile Range Make Huron Heights Shine

huron heights homes for sale

Huron Heights homes for sale may very well have some of the best views of the Breckenridge Ski Resort. This homey subdivision sits on the north side of the French Creek valley and faces southwest toward the Tenmile Range. Huron Heights homes decorate the edges of the hill where they sit like piping on a wedding cake. These homes are set on several tiers of roads that gently switchback up Gibson Hill. The lots are not usually grand, but are generally greater than one-half acre.

Developed at the same time the ski area was beginning and still being built upon today, Huron Heights is a dappled mix of wooden homes from A-frames to new mountain fine architecture, fitting in naturally in the pine forests covering this sun-drenched hill.

Huron Heights Homes - Breckenridge

View from Huron Height, older cabin

Town water and sewer, natural gas and buried electric lines are possible in Huron Heights, but some homes were built before these services were available, and in many situations the existing systems are preferred. Joining the town system is not required for Huron Heights homes, and there’s no real estate transfer tax because this subdivision's legal address is unincorporated Summit County and not within the town boundary of the Town of Breckenridge.

The layered roads in Huron Heights come together and descend into French Creek Road which joins Highway 9 less than a half mile from City Market. People who want a close-to-town subdivision that is also a quick drive to Frisco and I-70 will appreciate this location on the north side of downtown. Close as the crow flies to town center, a bike ride or walk into town will be downhill and easy, but short and steep on the way home.

Million Dollar Views from Huron Heights

The open French River Valley below, gives Huron Heights homes spectacular views to the Breckenridge Ski Resort and the Tenmile Range. The land steps up quickly in this subdivision, so each level gets the sun, and more of the same open view. Trails into the national forest traverse Huron Heights, delineating the tiers of this cake, along historic flumes that were used in the mining era. Remnants of some mines still exist in the neighborhood and several unofficial trails through undeveloped land make it easy to get into the national forest to hike or bike.
