Snowsculptures Rolling into Final Night

Hard to find a more glorious way to celebrate snow and winter - than to watch the progress of the dozens of artists who are making snow sculpture this week in Breckenridge.

Locals who volunteer for the International Snow Sculpture Championships know what those who are here all week also know, that seeing the process from start to finish has a snowball effect.  By today, Friday, like the Fridays of each year's event past, the sculptures roll in all directions and become dramatically different from one another.  Visitors to the site, tonight, will have the opportunity to watch as the teams make the final decisions - those details that are best made in the cold of the night, for on Friday night, everyone can work as long as they like.

Perhaps you are an expert snowman builder...imagine carving an image out of snow, what would it be?   The Budweiser International Snow Sculpture Championship (ISSC) returns to Breckenridge, January 18th – February 7th, 2016.  The 20 ton (yes, you read that correctly) blocks of snow will start to take shape on January 18th in the Tiger Dredge lot, behind the Riverwalk Center.  Teams will be coming from all over the world and will spend up to 65 hours shaping and sculpting the snow, creating gravity defying masterpieces.   Watching them evolve is an experience like no other. The Breckenridge, Summit and Park Counties real estate markets continue to thrive.  Breckenridge Associates Real Estate monthly market overview keeps on indicating that owning mountain property is highly desirable.  For the entire year of 2014, total residential properties sales in Breckenridge totaled 655.  We have already surpassed that number with 660 residential transactions closing through the end of November.  Likely the 2015 residential sales will finish by outperforming 2014 by almost 17% due to the 145 pending sales.  Solid and climbing sales numbers are a strong indicator that the market is on a positive trajectory. The local real estate market in Breckenridge and Summit County continues to show strong signs of stability.  Reduced inventory and a strong Buyer demand has resulted in impressive sales numbers year to date.  Many of the current statistics are comparable to the record high 2007 numbers, prior to the housing recession. The number of residential properties that have sold in 2015, in Breckenridge and Summit County, has been spectacular.  Year to date, the Breckenridge residential market has outperformed 2014 by almost 12 percent; 605 residential properties were sold as of October 31st, 2015.   The number of active listings has decreased to an all time low, with only 273 active listings at the beginning of November 2015.  This compares to 673 for the same…
