Large Lots Luxury Homes South of Breck

loma verde breckenridge real estate

Surrounded by the incorporated town of Blue River, Loma Verde is a neighborhood of large homesites up against the national forest south of Breckenridge.  Technically, Loma Verde is part of unincorporated Summit County but anyone who bought a Loma Verde home or vacant land for sale would call themselves Breckenridge homeowners (as would most people who live in Blue River - until you get your tax bill you may not even know what taxing district contain your property.)

Loma Verde is secluded. It is not suburban, nor is it like the old Victorian-era mining homes or the slopeside condo you'll find in central Breckenridge. Homes here are in the forest, look good under a blanket of snow and have the advantage of being pretty self sufficient with onsite wells - with traditionally great tasting water, and a non-central sewer system. Large lots make these wells and septic systems a plus rather than something of concern. All of the homes build in the neighborhood are one offs. This is a neighborhood for people who like living in nature, who value privacy and are happy that a hiking trail is closer than the highway.

Recreation near Loma Verde

Spruce Creek Road is the gateway to great trails to popular destinations like Mohawk Lakes, and Loma Verde is located just off this county road. Take the U.S. Forest Service Road that Spruce Creek or Crown Drive funnel into, and you'll arrive at the Spruce Creek trailhead, which connects to the Burro Trail which leads back to the base of Peak 9. Further up the trail, you'll cross the Wheeler Trail that extends from Hoosier Pass to Copper Mountain, and there you can see stunning Continental Falls that flow from the lakes situated in high meadows at the foot of the Tenmile Range.

One of the winter-access back-country cabins in the Tenmile Summit Huts system, Francie's Cabin, is accessible from these trails. And many more lakes and peaks as well.
