Ski Season in Summit County is Knocking at Our Door

The heat just turned on in my house, and out the window I can see a golden carpet of fallen aspen leaves. The light has changed from summer bright to a different fall brilliance. The gym is filling up as we transition from biking, hiking, fly fishing and golfing to getting our legs ready for ski season.  This is life in a ski town.  Are you ready?

Both resorts have released ‘Mid October” as the target, and you can believe snowmaking will furiously begin as soon as the weather allows. Market Watch | September 2016 Real Estate Statistics

On Friday, September 9, 2016 mortgage rates made their biggest leap in two years, though still holding near record lows. 30 years mortgages are now averaging around 3.5%.

The Fed is scheduled to meet September 20 and 21st. The possibility of a rate hike is unlikely, especially in the face of a somewhat weak August jobs report. However, a hike would not necessarily further boost mortgage rates as these rates tend to rise in anticipation of a hike but tend to level or fall in correction after the actual Fed announcement.

Locally, we are in the fourth year of downward trend in the number of active listings, with ever shortening listing times and sales prices holding strong at 96-98% of listing price across all areas and listing types. Condominiums…

Fall Favorites in Breckenridge and Summit County

Market Watch | August 2016 Real Estate Statistics

Summer in Summit and Park Counties are traditionally our busiest season for real estate sales and this summer seems no different. A strong jobs report for July and record low mortgage rates contribute to the strength of the resort real estate market. In fact, as of August 11th, jumbo 30 year fixed rate mortgages moved to a record low for the second consecutive week.

Some important local trends to note include continuing appreciation and quick absorption.
