As the saying goes, “when it rains, it pours…” Well, when it snows it’s UNBELIEVABLE!  Our snowpack is growing by the day and Spring Break is just around the corner and promises to be amazing here in Breckenridge.  Every year more and more people fall in love with the charm of the Town of Breckenridge and the world class skiing it offers.

Breckenridge Spring Fever is back again!  The month long party starts on March 21st.  There will be events for the entire family.

While taking in the best powder and blue bird days, make sure to explore the newest terrain at the Breckenridge Ski Resort.  The additional 543 acres on Peak 6 will be sure to impress!  Experience epic powder while skiing through the trees and open bowls.  But when the day is done on the slopes, the Breck’s Spring Break festivities take off on Peak 8.  From March 21st through the end of the ski season on April 19th, experience one of the best spring breaks in the Colorado high country.

There are some awesome ski events throughout the month.  On March 21st and 22nd, watch the GoPro Big Mountain Challenge, taking place on Breck’s newest terrain, Peak 6.  Young freestyle skiers and snowboarders will test of the best steep lines, tight shuts, and cliff drops as they compete for points in the IFSA series. The competition begins at 10 a.m. on both days.

The following weekend, on March 28th, come celebrate Breck’s 30th Anniversary of snowboarding at the Mountain Dew Throwback Throwdown Snowboard competition.  All day at the Superpipe at Freeway and Mini-pipe on Peak 8, snowboards will compete for a $17K prize.  This will sure be a crowd pleaser!

Then on April 5thBreck Kids Adventure Games will make its debut.  The inaugural race is for kids ages 6 through 14.  They will team up and race as they learn the skills needed to take on the adventures of hiking, sledding, archery, a low ropes course, Tarzan rope, slip-n-slide and more.  This event is sure to sell out, so register now!  Also, don’t miss out on the Town-Wide Easter Egg Hunt starting at 4 p.m. at the Blue River Plaza.

On April 11th, there two events that you sure don’t want to miss!  The Imperial Challenge will begin at 9:15 a.m. and the participants will endure a pseudo-triathlon.  Ride your bike to the base of Peak 8, then ascend Peak 8 to the top of the T-bar.  The third leg is the ski back down to the finish at warming house at the base of Peak 8! And after such a great workout, relax at the Breckenridge Spring Fever Beer Festival.  Over 35 breweries will be on tap and there will be live music, food, and fun.

The last major event of Spring Break Massive is the Breck Ascent Series Final Race.  It is marked as the final race of the 2014-2015 ski season, followed by a party.  On April 15th, use any means necessary to start climbing up Peak 7 starting at 5:30 p.m. then ski or snowboard down to the finish.  It should be a great way to wrap up the ski season.
