North French Street & Highway 9 Roundabout Construction

Project Overview: Construction continues on a new roundabout at North French Street, Woods Drive, and Highway 9 in Breckenridge. The project is designed to improve traffic flow and safety at this busy intersection while creating a more efficient connection between North French Street and Highway 9.

What It Will Accomplish:

• Improve traffic flow at the North French Street, Woods Drive, and Highway 9 intersection
• Enhance safety and navigation for vehicles traveling through the area
• Improve connections along this busy corridor near downtown Breckenridge

Timeline:

• Current Phase: Construction ongoing through fall 2026

• North French Street is currently closed between the City Market entrance and North Park Avenue (Highway 9)

Wellington Lot Closure & Downtown Parking

Project Overview: The Town of Breckenridge is completing the Sawmill Pedestrian Connection, a new pedestrian route designed to improve access between the South Gondola parking area and Main Street. During construction, the Wellington Lot is closed and additional parking and access impacts may occur nearby.

What It Will Accomplish:

• Create a new pedestrian connection between the South Gondola parking area and Main Street
• Improve pedestrian access between downtown Breckenridge and nearby parking areas
• Provide a safer and more convenient route for people walking into the downtown core

Timeline:

• Current Phase: Construction underway through fall 2026

What to Expect:

• Wellington Lot is closed during construction
• The Sawmill Lot and Gold Pan Alley may experience temporary construction impacts
• South Gondola Parking Structure and lot remain available for free parking during the project

Project Overview: Construction continues on the I-70 and Highway 9 interchange at Exit 203 in Frisco, one of the primary gateways into Summit County. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) project is designed to improve traffic flow, safety, and connectivity at this heavily traveled interchange.

What It Will Accomplish:

• Improve traffic flow and reduce congestion at the I-70 and Highway 9 interchange
• Enhance safety and connectivity for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians
• Improve travel through one of Summit County’s busiest regional gateways
• Reduce delays associated with congestion and peak travel periods

Timeline:

• Current Phase: Phase 2 began in August 2026
• Expected Completion: October 2027

• Traffic has shifted onto the newly constructed CO 9 underpass bridge deck
• Construction continues around I-70, CO 9, Dillon Dam Road, and Lusher Court

I-70 Straight Creek Culvert Repair

Project Overview: The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is completing drainage and culvert improvements along I-70 between Silverthorne (Exit 205) and the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel. The project will repair and upgrade nearly one mile of culverts along Straight Creek to help preserve this heavily traveled section of the I-70 mountain corridor.

What It Will Accomplish:

• Improve drainage and culvert infrastructure along I-70
• Extend the lifespan of existing culverts along Straight Creek
• Upgrade inlets and grates connected to the drainage system
• Help preserve infrastructure along the I-70 mountain corridor

Timeline:

• Start: September 2025
• Expected Completion: Fall 2026

What to Expect:

• Work hours: Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Weekday single-lane closures on I-70 between Silverthorne (Exit 205) and the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel
• No lane closures are planned on Fridays, holidays, or weekends
• The speed limit is reduced to 45 mph through the work zone
• Significant delays are not currently expected, but drivers should use caution and follow posted construction signage
