Opening Day, November 13th is just around the corner. Let the season begin! The Breckenridge Ski Resort has been making snow and the anticipation of another great ski season can be felt in the crisp mountain air. But that's only the beginning of the fun. Breckenridge is preparing for a great winter season with plenty of events planned for the entire family.

Thanksgiving | November 26th, 2015

Why not spend Thanksgiving with the family and enjoy the start of the holidays in the Town of Breckenridge? Enjoy a calmer, peaceful holiday with lots of activities that will make your stay memorable. As the mountain continues to be blessed with snow, Breckenridge Ski Resort will continue to open more terrain. Beautiful historic Main Street will awaken your holiday spirit. It is a magical place to spend time with family and friends, being thankful for the past year.

Race of the Santas | December 5th, 2015 | 4:15 p.m.

Dress up as Santa for a great cause. This annual charitable event raises money for "Adopt an Angel", helping families in the community provide gifts to their children who would not otherwise be able to. The Race of the Santas only stretches for 7 blocks down Breckenridge’s Main Street and is designed for all ages. You can sprint, walk, skip, or run the race...even do cart wheels! A great way to have fun for a cause. The extra incentive of running at an elevation of 10,000 feet involves cookies and milk!!

Registration is only $15 and open to locals and visitors alike. Don’t fret if you don’t have your own Santa suit stuffed in your closet, you can get a costume (including registration) for $45. Then, you can keep the suit for next year’s event. If kids want to participate in the race, they get in for free with antlers and bells.

Lighting of Breckenridge | December 5th, 2015| Cocoa and Cookies at 4:30 p.m., Santa arrives at 5 p.m.

The Town of Breckenridge officially transforms into holiday scene right out of a movie. Following the Race of the Santas, the real Santa Claus proceeds down Main Street and will arrive at the Blue River Plaza for the lighting of the town tree. Carolers will be singing and there will be hot cocoa and cookies leading up to the tree lighting.

Dew Tour | December 10-13, 2015

Returning for the 8thyear, this renowned winter event descends upon Breckenridge. World-class skiers and snowboarders will be participating in events that include the ski and snowboard superpipe and slopestyle at the famous, award winning Freeway Park and Pipe on Peak 8. It will be four days of snowboarding and freeskiing competitions, live concerts, games and giveaways. There will also be the interactive Dew Tour experience that will feature athlete meet and greets. The Dew Tour competition schedule will be released soon, so make sure to check back for more details.
