Both new construction and pricing have been low due to demand, but Tully suggests this is about to change as the economy and consumer confidence get back to normal levels. Many renters are being lured into the market as the cost of buying has become more appealing; the cost of renting a home can be more than the mortgage would be for the same home. Non-distressed markets, such as the Breckenridge, have a reduced inventory of homes for sale. A modest increase in demand would mean prices will start to shift upward.
