Skiers and snowboarders, are you ready for the ski season? Here in Colorado, we are blessed with many places to get away and enjoy a winter vacation. But recently, ForbesLife ranked Breckenridge at the top of the list.
Vail is the most visited ski resort in the country, but Breckenridge is close behind, usually second with the most ski visits in a season. Breckenridge is unique in what it offers. There is expert terrain to challenge the most daring skiers and snowboarders, the historic town and Main Street, and plenty of choices when it comes to ski-in/ski-out lodging. Last year, Breckenridge Ski Resort opened up Peak 6, increasing the skiable terrain by almost 20 percent. There is 543 acres of intermediate to expert terrain, bumps and groomers, and vast wide open bowls. The resort does a great job with offering terrain to all riding abilities and the addition of Peak 6 has truly been beneficial to the resort. Although there is not a restaurant at the base of Peak 6 because of the Forest Service permits, there is a large warming hut and a "food truck" for the ski slopes, serving up Philly Cheesesteaks outside.
Another great addition to the Breckenridge Ski Resort is the high-speed, six passenger chairlift at Peak 8. This will greatly benefit the skier flow and get riders dispersed across the mountain more effectively. The base of Peak 8 has completely been "redone" in the last several years, with the addition of One Ski Hill Place and Grand Lodge. There is also the roller coaster for those that are not into a full day of skiing, and one of the best happy hours around at the T-Bar.
If you have never visited Breckenridge or if you already know all the great things that Breckenridge has to offer, come this winter to enjoy the 34 lifts, 187 trails, and almost 3,000 acres of terrain!
