The seasons are changing.  The warm days and nights are starting to be much cooler.  The signs of fall are starting to make their appearance and there are spots of gold to be found on the mountainside.  We are looking forward to the beautiful fall foliage, fall hikes and fall events.  So whether you are coming to the mountains to take in the fall colors, drinking at Breckenridge Oktoberfest, or taking a look at the Parade of Homes, you will want to spend time in Breckenridge this fall.  Make sure that you can escape to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Breckenridge Fall Foliage

If you decide you would like to take an afternoon drive to look at the beautiful “Colorado Gold", September is a great time.  The aspen leaves will start to turn gold and orange, giving the mountainsides of Breckenridge a stunning glow.  Make sure to head up to Boreas Pass road for some of the best views of the fall foliage.  You will love driving through the natural tunnel of trees on Boreas Pass Road- it will be a true highlight of your adventure and an outing everyone will enjoy.

Directions to/from Boreas Pass in Breckenridge

Head south through Breckenridge onto Boreas Pass Road by taking a left at the stoplight on the south side of town. You will come to a dirt road after 3.5 miles. Stay on the dirt road and you’ll be surrounded by beautiful Colorado gold as you navigate through tunnels of Aspens and gradually head above timberline. Learn some history along the way – the road follows an abandoned railroad grade, which was the original route of the Denver, South Park and Pacific Railroad. You can turn around at anytime, or continue approximately 11 miles on the dirt road to the town of Como. Enjoy the foliage and incredible views of the Continental Divide. To get back to Breckenridge from Como, take Highway 285 south to Highway 9/Fairplay. Follow the highway through Fairplay, Alma and back to Breckenridge.

Breckenridge Oktoberfest

Where Germany meets the Breckenridge mountains- that is where you will find the best Oktoberfest.  It will be a fun-fill weekend, so mark your calendars and get your travel plans arranged.  Breckenridge’s 20th annual Oktoberfest is returning again this year, September 12-14, 2014.
