Does Summit County Float Your Boat?

Of course it does. But can it literally float your boat? Summit County brings to mind snowcapped peaks, ski (and apres) adventures, endless single-track, and all sorts of outdoor activities- but boating? Did you think you would have to trade in your captains hat when you signed up for ski town life? Think again!

All the snow has to go somewhere. Add warmer summer temperatures and, bang!  We've got lots of water. Just add watercraft!

While white water rafting tends to dominate most of our ideas about water sports at altitude, there is so much more available. Right here in Summit County we have the stunning Lake Dillon, home to two marinas with many boating options. From kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, pontoon boats, canoes, and powerboats to sailboat regattas, Lake Dillon can provide your boating fix.

Feel like rowing in the stillness of the early morning? Also an option. Try the Rowing Club.

The Frisco Bay Marina and the worlds highest deep-water marina over in Dillon are fully equipped with rentals, tours, lessons and apres. Boat apres (is that a thing?) at the famous Tiki Bar at the Dillon Marina and the Island Grill in Frisco are well-loved traditions. There is even a water taxi between the two, from 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. every day- 6 p.m. on weekends. Its a good idea to call the Capitan ahead, at 970.486.0250. Dogs and bikes welcome.

Both marinas also offer slips and moorings, and rental space for events. Fishing, camping, playgrounds, launch ramps, and more.
