Builders Confidence Hits 7-Year High

There are continuing signs that the housing market is on an upward trend towards recovery. In June, builder confidence for new construction of single-family homes hit a milestone. It surged 8 points on the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI), to 52 points. Readings that are over 50 points, indicates that builders view sales conditions as good versus poor.

Builders’ perceptions on the current single-family home sales for the next six months are marked as “good”, “fair” or “poor.” Builders are also asked to rate the traffic of prospective buyers from “high to very high,” “average” or “low to very low.” With these different components, the scores are then used to calculate the index. Thanks for keeping your trash picked up in order to keep the bears and wildlife out of our yards. In Breckenridge, wildlife lives among us and they are attracted easily to food. As a friendly reminder, please remember to:

*Put trash out after 6 a.m. the morning of pick-up.

*Store trash in a secure location, or bear-resistant container.

*Food items must be put out for pick up in an approved container.

*Bags with food items in them are not allowed at curbside outside of an approved container.

To avoid any future law enforcement actions please do your part to discourage wildlife from eating trash.

Local Real Estate Activity: May 2012 vs. May 2013

In Breckenridge, we saw a significant increase in the number of properties sold in the month of May compared to the same time last year.  There were 27 single family homes sold in 2013, compared with 24 sold in 2012.  Duplexes sales doubled with 7 selling in 2013 versus 2 sold in 2013.  Condos also saw an increase in number of units sold for the month.  In 2013, 18 condos sold compared with 12 in 2012.  Townhomes decreased in the number sold in 2013, with only 5 selling in May.

In Summit County, we saw a steady increase in the number of properties sold in the month of May compared to the same time last year.  There were 60 single family homes sold in 2013, compared with 57 sold in 2012.  Twelve duplexes sold this May versus nine in 2012.  Condos also saw a…

April Housing Scorecard: Progress as Values Rise and Sales Remain Strong

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Department of the Treasury recently released the April edition of the Obama Administration’s Housing Scorecard – a comprehensive report on the nation’s housing market. The latest data shows important progress across many key indicators. Even though home values continue to rise and home sales remained strong, officials caution that the overall recovery remains fragile.

The annual increase in home prices is the highest in nearly seven years and sales of existing and new homes are both up over 10 percent from one year ago, said HUD Deputy Assistant Secretary for Economic Affairs Kurt Usowski.

KINGDOM DAYS 2013

The official kickoff to summer….Come visit Breckenridge to celebrate more than 150 years of the town’s past from the mining days. The town turns upside down for the weekend while locals and visitors celebrate the gold fields and mining, exploration and adventure, booms and busts.
