Silverthorne Area Information
Silverthorne is named after Judge Marshal Silverthorn (adding an “e”) and early pioneer of the area. He staked his gold mining claim in the valley in 1881. Silverthorne began as a convenient place to move buildings to from the old Town of Dillon, when it was relocated to allow for the reservoir to be created. Today, Silverthorne is an ideal location for access to every resort in the area: Loveland, Arapahoe Basin, Keystone Resort, Copper Mountain and Breckenridge
