Condos on Ridge Street with a Townhome Feel

Placer Ridge newly constructedvtownhomes on the former Breckenridge Mountain Lodge site

Placer Ridge Townhomes are on the site of the former Breckenridge Mountain Lodge, which was itself a ski-era modification of what was before that a bowling alley, a great social and aesthetic improvement from the repair shops for the mining and train industries that were on this site on the south side of downtown Breckenridge. Shops and restaurants are across the street from these independent homes. They are townhomes with no land thus the name condo in the official subdivision name.

Located on Ridge Street, Placer Ridge offers the quiet of being off Main, which is just a short block to the west. The shops and restaurants are an easy walk and so is the free town bus that runs along French Street, one block east of Ridge. Carter Park with tennis courts and a sledding hill is another block east.

History of Breckenridge Development on the Southside

The historical south end of Breckenridge was defined when the Denver Rio Grande Railway came across Boreas Pass and into town on a path similar to the road called Boreas Pass Road today. The trains needed areas to store, load and unload freight and other products that would serve the mining industry. By the turn of the 19th Century to the 20th, this area was turned into a park and new streets platted, but development didn't fill in the area. In the 1960s a ski-style lodge called Breckenridge Mountain Lodge was built on this side of town  The lodge has since been demolished and replaced with something similar to the mining-era looks of Placer Ridge Townhomes- Residences at Marriott.

Townhome and Condo Style

Mining-boom era is the theme of these small homes with gables and a board-and-batten exterior. Built in a row, a home for sale in Placer Ridge will be unlike a city row house. They look independent with varying frontages. Front porches and big windows segmented to look Victorian, this new construction fits in with the historic, in-town homes nearby. Inside they are cozy with open floor plans, three levels with parking for guests out front and underground spaces for the homeowners.

The layout inside is similar to a suburban split-level home which is surprising considering they have an outside that appears narrow and tall. The underground parking is accessed from the outside via a driveway to the rear and is not included in the three-level layout.
