Celebrate the 4th of July in Breckenridge

High in the Rockies, summer comes a little slower to Breckenridge than it does to the rest of the country, but it is the most perfect time of year with temperatures that rarely get into the high 80's. The Fourth of July kicks off summer in Summit County. 

4th of July Event Schedule

7 am  - 11 am  -  Independence Day 10K

The Independence Day 10K kicks off Breckenridge’s 4th of July celebration. The race finishes just in time for runners to watch the parade and join other festivities.

8:30 am – 4th of July “Sparkler 50 Yarder” Strider Bike Race

Your little one can get in on the race action too! The 10th Annual Strider Race starts in front of the Gold Pan Saloon and finishes at Blue River Plaza. If your child can walk, then your child is invited to join. This year’s event will raise funds for a new playground at the Carriage House Early Learning Center, Breckenridge’s longest running daycare.

Strider and balance bikes are not provided. Participating children must wear a helmet. Children must be registered prior to the day of the race to participate.

9:30 am – Firecracker 50

Started by 2 Breckenridge locals, the Firecracker 50 has been a Breckenridge staple for 20+ years. Kicking off 4th of July festivities with a bang, this 50-mile mountain bike race will send 750 racers out to complete two 25-mile laps and 4,000 feet of climbs on some of the best backcountry trails in Breckenridge.

10 am – Independence Day Parade

Breckenridge loves a celebration, and the Independence Day Parade is one of everyone’s favorites. Dressed in red, white, and blue, locals and visitors line up along Main Street to cheer on the passing floats and parade participants.

Town officials strongly suggest leaving your furry friend at home during the parade for their own safety.

10 am – 3 pm – Breck Create Cirque de USA

Continue the family friendly celebration with Breck Create and DJ Get Crispy. Compete in the chalk art contest, dress your fur friend up for the doggie fashion show, kids can have their faces painted and enjoy complimentary crafts and games while parents enjoy an adult beverage in the beer garden at the Old Masonic Hall patio, and more!

12 pm – Reading of the Declaration of Independence

Colorado Ski and Snowboard Hall of Famer, CJ Mueller, will read the Declaration of Independence at the Blue River Plaza following the parade.

12:30 pm – NRO Alumni Quartet

Enjoy patriotic favorites performed by Alumni of the National Repertory Orchestra.

6 pm – National Repertory Orchestra: Fourth of July Spectacular

Dedicated to all who have served and are currently serving, the Fourth of July Spectacular is a family friendly, interactive event that will feature beloved patriotic pieces conducted by NRO Music Director Laureate Carl Topilow.

Doors open at 5:30 pm, tickets are $25 to $35 for adults and $5 for kids 17 and under.

7:30 pm – Eclipse Theater Comedy Night

Erica Rhodes, Mark Masters, and special guests Leonard Smith, Austin Kress, and Ray Lau will be performing at The Eclipse Theater.
