Matt Powers

My story isn’t unique: I came to this great mountain community in 1999 and knew from the beginning I wanted to stay. My previous career educated me in business and finance—a thorough grounding in the nuts and bolts of working as a professional Realtor.

Serving clients well means being able to manage the many details involved in a smooth and successful real estate transaction, and my job is to simplify that process. I like that aspect of the business, but what I really enjoy is the opportunity to forge relationships with people. I knew that for me to have a fulfilling life engaged in work I would enjoy, I had to find a way to connect with people. Three essential elements—business, home, people— work together in my career as a Realtor.

Matt Powers, Realtor at Breckenridge Associates

Home isn’t just a word to me; it’s an idea; a place where memories are made—so for the past 24 years, I have immersed myself in the life of our mountain community; making many great friends to bike, ski and hang out with, meeting my wife, Alison and having two kids—Eli, now 16, and Macy, 13. Breckenridge is our home, and we love our life here.

I have been gratified to see my business grow as a result of referrals from past clients and from friends I’ve made in Breckenridge. I was honored when, in January, 2020, my partners at Breckenridge Associates Real Estate appointed me Managing Broker, a vote of confidence that recognizes my commitment and expertise in our business. I strive to be a professional my clients can rely on, and I really enjoy the process of helping them with one of life’s key decisions—buying or selling a home. I am fortunate that in working with many different clients with a variety of needs, I have gained considerable experience in many areas of my business, particularly in always being current on the wide range of properties available in Summit County, from investment condominiums to mountain dream homes.

Putting together a real estate transaction isn’t about the deal—it’s about having an open and honest relationship with the people who come to me for help in making one of the most impactful decisions of their lives. I can guide you through the intricacies of contracts, loans, inspections and all the myriad details required to get the ‘deal’ done. But, for me, working with you is about forming a rewarding, and hopefully long-term relationship. Because for most clients, it isn’t really about the building. It’s about their lives, families, community, and future.
