Lighting of Breckenridge ~ Light up December

Race of the Santas / Race of the Reindeer

The first weekend in December - at the center of ski country, Breckenridge is already a winter wonderland -  lights ablaze, the fervor of the holiday season gets turned on with days of entertainment, a race down Main Street with hundreds of folks dressed in costume - Race for the Santas in support of our local charity, Adopt an Angel - and hot cocoa.

Handmade Holiday Craft Market

Friday,  Dec. 4 – 6, Breckenridge Arts District
The Holiday Craft Market takes place at the Breckenridge Arts District, browse the market, listen to music, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and discover the artists selling their handmade fine crafts.

 The Lighting of Breckenridge

Saturday, Dec. 5, Blue River Plaza
2pm – Summit Dancers
2.30pm – Summit Choral Society
3-7.30pm – Holiday Carolers

Race of the Santas

Saturday, Dec. 5, 4:15pm, Main Street, Breckenridge
Hundreds of Santas running, skipping, jogging, walking down Main Street, Breck. Register at the Breckenridge Welcome Center (203 South Main St.) Adults can partake in the Race of the Santas by donning a Santa costume to maneuver through the 6-block course, with top finishers winning Ullr helmets and prize packages. You can even join your kids in the Kids Reindeer Run where your little one will be given their own antlers. This is a non-timed fun run!

Free Cocoa, Cookies and Caroling

Saturday, Dec. 5, 4:30pm, Blue River Plaza
In case you didn’t get enough at the cookie station during the race, take in some free cocoa, cookies and caroling in the Blue River Plaza (South Main and Washington).

The Real Santa Arrives

Saturday, Dec. 5, 5:00pm, Blue River Plaza
The real Santa arrives at the Blue River Plaza for the lighting of the town tree at 5.15pm. Don’t miss the Bernese Mountain Dog Parade following Santa toward the tree.

Visit With Santa

Saturday, Dec. 5, 5:30pm – 7:00pm, 111 East Washington St.
Visit with the real Santa and at the Barney Ford House Museum (111 E. Washington Ave.), across from the Blue River Plaza.
