North on French Street Breckenridge Homes

breckenridge French Street homes

Historically compatible, small-scale homes on small lots minimize the ‘Just-Right’ quality of French Street Garden subdivision. Located just north of Wellington Road, these homes are two blocks from the main intersection of downtown Breckenridge. Built around the turn of the century, 21st Century, these two single family homes, and two duplex homes filled in a small pocket. Rarely do these home come on the market, so if a French Street Garden home was for sale it could be a real estate best buy.

The northern end of Main Street is more residential, and closer to the gondola with access to Peaks 8 & 7.  French Street Gardens are on the east side of Main, in the residential area that was originally settled in the 1880s. The streets here rise slightly from Main and offer a great view of the sunset over the Tenmile Range and the Breckenridge ski resort. Quieter than the south end, several great restaurants and shops are finding a home on the north side of town and a free town-to-ski-resort bus runs along French. The free countywide transportation system - Summit Stage - has its Breckenridge hub near the gondola, so Copper Mountain, Keystone or Frisco are no-drive options from French Street.

Another block to the north is City Market, the only supermarket in Breckenridge, and it easily accessed by the bike or pedestrian path that lies on the west side of Main, just blocks from French Street.

French Street Gardens Home Style

Victorian with peaked roofs and several gables is the look of French Street Garden homes, but they were built in this century and have a more open floor plan than the classic Victorian two-story styles. Garages are around the back and accessed by an alley to make the sidewalk view more like the neighborhoods of the 1800.

Nearby Recreation

In addition to being close to the bike path and the gondola, there is also a skyway skiway that is maintained from the ski mountain to town. It runs under Park Avenue to the gondola parking lot, and a fun way to get home to French Street Gardens. The gondola runs winter and summer so the hiking opportunities are extended. The Peaks Trail, a 10-mile hike on rolling hills starts at the base area of Peak 7 and continues to Frisco with offshoots onto the Miners Creek and Gold Hill Trails. The Breckenridge Rec Center with indoor and a clay tennis court, pools, track and other fitness space is a few blocks down the bike path, or on the free bus route. The free bus has routes up Baldy Mountain, out to Tiger Road, and on to Frisco and can carry bikes.
