Teams from Ukraine, Germany, Lithuania, Mongolia, Mexico, Spain, Argentina, France, China and the U.S. finished their snow sculptures at 10 am today in the International Snow Sculpture Championships held in Breckenridge for the 25th time.
Teams from the states of Vermont, Alaska and the hometown Breckenridge team were part of this year's competition, as well.
Temperatures were unusually warm all week for this year's competition, and on the final hour the sky became extremely overcast. "I'm afraid you're getting the wrong impression of Breckenridge," was overhead while the teams worked to polish their sculptures from top to pavement.
Several teams had worked through the night to get their sculptures finished. Spectators walked through the pieces that were lit with ever changing LED lights. The scene is pictured above. The first picture is a German team posing with their large open piece, and the second one is a team from Mongolia.
Awards will be announced at 2 p.m. today, at the Riverwalk Center.
