Serious Biking Happening in Breckenridge

In Summit County we take our biking seriously. It's not uncommon to see a bike attached to a car that the bike greatly out-values. Open space and trails get attention and funding unthinkable in other places. Events are designed to get you out and riding, teaching you how to maintain your ride, cheering for and being inspired by professional riders and creating chances to set goals and challenge yourself, are rife here in mountain summer. Race organizers are often looking for volunteers which is another great way to get involved in the summer bike scene.

Here are a few bike events to put on your calendar.

Breck Bike Week kicks off summer bike season in June. Breck Bike Week presents a diverse array of offerings like group rides, bike skills and maintenance clinics, demos, and even ride-in events like campfires and movies.

Maverick Sports is a homegrown outfit with world-class events. From MTB Junior league, created to nurture lifetime mountain bikers, to the prestigious Firecracker 50, which opens in waves leading Breckenridge's 4th of July parade to the locally beloved Summit Mountain Challenge showcasing the countywide trail network with categories for all riders.

After a summer of prep and training, you are ready to test yourself against some of the best mountain bikers in the world, on some of the most beautiful trails in the world (yes, we are biased, but our visitors do tend to concur) then the Breck Epic is a bucket list stage race event poised and waiting for you right here in Summit County. The Breck Epic "suffer fest" takes place mid August featuring bacon and skittles at some summits and a notorious dance party as the unofficial last stage.

Road, mountain, tandem, electric, recumbent...all welcome. Just get pedaling!
