Oh the holiday season! The rush to the new year can be a blur of presents and pressures and celebrations and caloric overloads. Then we land on the doorstep of a new year, exhausted, and looking squarely into the fresh face of all the potential a new year brings. We make our resolutions we hope we can keep. In so many parts of the country, gyms reports an uptick of hopeful participants in the early weeks of a new year.
What about a slight change up this year? Make resolutions before all the holiday pressure avalanches you.
A Resolution to Get Outside More?
Here in Summit we have more than one way to get out and to keep moving. Beside hitting the slopes, there are several versions of cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fat tire biking, and skating. Find more info in order to get resolved on how to get outside more, get more exercise, or get into the many sports and recreational opportunities in winter in the Summit, here on the Breck Associates website.
Resolved to Eat Better?
Breckenridge nutritionist and professional mountain biker Uriel Carlson, founder of Inner Wild Nutrition, is an amazing local resource to help with health and wellness programs. She gives guidance to navigate through the health pitfalls that the holiday season can unfortunately hold. If you aren’t here in Summit, Uri also offers web based support - including ideas about successfully baking at 9,600 feet.
Sugar is so prevalent at the holidays, it's even in the name of the most ordinary Christmas cookie. Maybe you resolve every year to eat less sugar. Well, then you'll appreciate one of the main ways to improve your baking at high altitude — reduce the amount of sugar. The other key tricks are to increase moisture and oven temperature and to decrease leavening.
Resolved to Do More ... ?
As always, our current events calendar points to major events that are happening monthly and offers resources to find more to do. That said, let’s all stay healthy and happy out there!
As for those New Year’s resolutions- we hope they include more time in Summit County, more time on our amazing trails, outdoor activities and cultural offerings. If your resolutions happen to include real estate in Summit County, any one of the Broker/Partners at Breckenridge Real Estate would be honored to be your partner and guide to the best possible solution to all your real estate needs. Happy Holidays and here’s to a wonderful new year.
