If you're in town for the 20th Annual Breckenridge International Snow Sculpting Competition later this month, you can't miss the very special opportunity to view the final touches being put onto the sculptures the night before judgin. The pre-judging celebration with the Breckenridge snow artists takes place on Friday, January 29, the evening prior to the International Snow Sculpture Championships judging. In what was an uncertain economic year, Breckenridge and Summit County real estate faired well according to local MLS data obtained at the end of 2009. In an annual comparison to 2008, real estate sales dollar volume and overall number of transactions were down between 12% and 13% in Breckenridge, and in Summit and Park County areas the same numbers dropped between 13% and 15%. However, summer and fall months gained momentum with approximately 72% of Summit and Park County transactions taking place the second half of the year.

With average sales prices realizing 2005 numbers, buyers sought and found better local deals in 2009 than in the last 10 years. First-time homebuyers took advantage of the government tax credit and were able to enter into the market.…

The most expensive listing in Breckenridge, Colorado closed December 30, 2009 for $8,285,000.

For the fifth straight month, October real estate prices showed another slight gain over previous months. Home prices were up .4% over September at October's close. While overall the housing gains appear flat, we are seeing some solid gains.
