Opening day is a celebrated occasion every November and the anticipation this year was higher than ever before. However, the excitement was also mixed with reservation-system wariness and most everyone was wondering if purchasing a season pass would be worthwhile. 2020 sales through October 31st brought stats none of us saw coming. Like the rest of the world, we have been shocked this year by circumstances never before encountered. Knowing the Breckenridge real estate market fared better than most back in 2008, we could only be cautiously optimistic. When public health allowed real estate showings to resume this past June, we were more than pleased to see buyers returning, but never expected to see the surprising gains reflected in the October stats report.

Temperatures in the High Country are starting to cool off, but the real estate market remains scorching hot. Although the town has begun the transition from summer to fall with the end of walkable Main Street, visitation is expected to remain steady. The answer to one of summer's biggest questions has finally been answered. For months, we've been listening to rumors and speculation about what will become of the 2020-2021 ski season. With last season being cut short, many of us are dreaming of the day we can be back on the mountain to immerse ourselves in winter in the best possible way- on our skis or board with family, friends, or even solo. On Aug 27, Vail Resorts announced Breckenridge Ski Resort will open for skiing and riding on Nov 13, 2020 to passholders only and by reservation. Keystone Resort opens a bit earlier for passholders on Nov 6. Skiers without season passes will be able to ski starting Dec 7 by reservation only.
