Labor Day Weekend marks the official end of summer. It’s also the time for a longstanding Summit County tradition: The Great Rubber Duck Race!

For three decades, this fun-filled community event has raised money in support of the Summit Foundation’s grant and scholarship programs. The Summit Foundation is the leading organization inspiring people and mobilizing resources to improve and enrich the lives of individuals in Summit County.

On August 31, thousands of adopted ducks zip down the Blue River in the heart of Breckenridge for this worthy cause. It has been a busy summer in Breckenridge as we’ve been soaking up the warmer temps, and filling our longer days with hiking, biking, golf and everything in between. From our wonderful NRO Porch Series Concerts to our 4th of July Client Party, we’ve been enjoying all the fun full-swing. Thankfully, we still have lots of summer sunsets to take in. But with kids heading back to school later this month, it seems there’s somewhat of an inevitable shift on the horizon in the day-to-day freedoms summertime offers. Isak Heartstone is now officially re-opened to the public. After months of hard work and collaboration between the Town of Breckenridge, Breckenridge Creative Arts, and the Breckenridge Tourism Office, Breckenridge’s famous 15-foot-tall wooden troll is ready to receive visitors once again in his new home. Isak’s creator is Danish artist Thomas Dambo, who specializes in making imaginative art pieces from recycled materials. Dozens of his creations can be seen around the world. Isak, of course, is our favorite. 

Isak became a popular attraction in Breckenridge last year after being installed on a local trail near a neighborhood. Almost overnight, his popularity soared and soon tourists came from far and wide to pose with Isak, unexpectedly creating crowd…
